I have seen a lot of stuff that was obviously produced late in World War II, too late to be utilized and probably stored until the Korean War effort, when it was re-packaged. Maybe somebody can tell us if the original manufacturer repackaged this stuff or if the military inspected and repackaged it.
I know for a fact that a lot of WW II stuff was given to the public school system because we had big transmitters, meters, tubes, and so on donated to our Electric Shop in the early 1960's.
In the next valley over the hills from us (in Southwest Arizona) was a big camp at which General Patton trained troops for Africa. I can't substantiate the rumor, but local legend says that the military dug a huge pit and topped it with concrete, then covered it carefully with dirt. In the pit, as the story goes, are vehicles, ammunition, and communications gear.
