I have a BC-224-A that suffered the same 19" panel replacement
treatment, John...only more. Yes...one of the original unobtanium RCA
224-A receivers that began the whole BC-224/348 series. :'( The only
thing easily salvageable was the tuning bezel, which was missing on the
one at http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/1935/1935.html and of course was
transferred to complete that one. Gone were the control designation
plates, original knobs, power/avc/avc switch, etc.
To add insult to injury, the original tubes had been replaced with
postwar miniatures mounted on reducer plates in the original tube socket
holes...hack, cough, retch....
It's gonna be a long comeback project.....
