[Milsurplus] R-392 Audio Module Oscillation

Gang,

I was happy to find a solid-state audio module for my R-392 at the 
Sussex Hamfest yesterday.  It's similar to the one shown here:

The thing has way too much gain, and oscillates.  I installed a 2.2 meg 
resistor between the input and the base of  Q-601 This brings the 
overall gain to a reasonable level, but there still is oscillation for a 
short time when I adjust the AF-gain control.  I found a reference on 
the web to another guy with similar complaints and no solution.

Has anyone sorted this out?  Getting rid of the 15 watts the 26A7 make 
into heat sounds like a good idea.
