I am not sure it is even a measurement game played with test equipment.  In many cases, the differences between decent mid range price audio equipment and ultra-high end audio equipment are barely measureable, both in terms of frequency response and distortion.

I am not sure there are more than a handful of ears which could tell the difference between an amplifier with 0.1% distortion and 0.01% distortion.  I suspect there is more distortion in the speaker system than there is measurable differences in the amplifier and cables involved.

But then again, I don't own any of that high end gear nor have any connection with anyone who either owns such stuff or who makes it, and I figure at my age, I might not be able to tell the difference anyway.
