For years now I have been buying computers from GLA and other sources and everything in the last ten years has the hard drives removed and degaussed. Couple times they have mistakenly left drives in system and have returned them. Don’t know how they degaussed metal case drives but it not only removes data from disk it also turns the high power magnets in drive motors to iron. They have gone to a process of sometimes degaussing the whole system and it kills all the motors in the floppy and CD drives, also have never seen a sale of whacked drives so wonder what they do to them? Somewhere there must be a mountain of old drives and drives carriers.
