It was certainly used post-WWII, including the instance I mentioned on
Hr.Ms. Amsterdam (D819) in 1973.

But I have a flight instruction manual for the early B-29A and B that shows
the AN/APN-9 installed (plus mentions the AN/ARR-1 used with the AN/ARN-7).

I believe it was available very late in WWII.
