I missed using the APN-9, but did use the APN-4 in the Martin PBM-5.
Besides its use for navigation, it was an inadvertant ignition analyzer.
Total of 28 spark plugs on that bird and they all showed up on the LORAN
scope. The trick was finding the LORAN pips amongst all the grass created
by the spark plugs. Surplus conversion manual has directions for converting
the APN-4 to a 160m receiver. Mike W6MAB
