My apologies to the group.....I should have sent my previous posting in
plain text so I will try it again.

In the late 1960's, the Canadian Armed Forces had a bunch of ARN-6 radio
compass receivers modified by removing the 100 - 200 KHz band and replacing
it with 2.0 - 3.5 MHz coverage. The modified set was assigned R-717/ARN-44
nomenclature. Searching on the 'net has revealed that the US Coast Guard
operated C-131A "Samaritan" aircraft (acquired from USAF stock at
Davis-Monthan) beginning in 1976 that were also equipped with the ARN-44.
Have you ever seen one of these sets? Was there a radio originally
manufactured as the ARN-44 or were the USCG ones (or others) also modified
versions of the common ARN-6?

Thanks for your help!!

TB
