That sounds like the BC-AA-196 antenna switching relay, about
8"x4"x5" (WxHxD), with three ceremic insulators/binding posts
on top, and a socket for a PL-77 on the right.

Mine has a date of 6-30-34 stamped on it.  These seem to have
had the best survival rate of any component of the SCR-AA-187.
