Speaking of VLF transmitters, have any of you digital experts been able to
decipher any of NAA's transmission on 24.0 kcs. I use the station on a
regular basis as a "system" check of my low frequency loop antenna. NAA Puts
out a heck of a signal here on the east coast- - with my 7 foot loop
aligned with the station the reception exceeds 400 uV !

In 1956 the VLF transmitter on 25.8 KHz at Marion MA
| was sending make and break RTTY at 60 wpm. I first
| copied it at Andrews AFB, then at various places in Alaska.
| The antenna was a multi-turn square loop about a meter on
| a side. Just set it on the ground, or snow, with the loop in
| the plane of the incoming signal. The loop was built by Hinge,
| a Canadian company. It was, I suppose, the best for the
| north country, and smaller than a Beverage for that frequency.
