I partially answered my own question.  There's a 1950 document "NRL 
Report 3605" "Underwater Loop Reception Phenomena and Technique" here:

Just a reference in the bibliography to another document that indicates 
my CN-50085 was used with a CN-24111 loop and an RAK.

I'd still like a schematic.
