Assuming you haven't written anything to the drive where you accidentally
deleted the "new" copy and don't use any of the utilities which cause your
data areas to be scrubbed, it's all there and can be recovered by an
undelete utility.
"Delete" doesn't actually delete the files but rather changes an entry in
the directory so the space is no longer in use.
Even if some writes have occurred, it may be possible to recover most of
your files.
I haven't used one in years so I can't point you to one. Hopefully someone
can direct you to a suitable utility or you can find one on the net.

yes that would be me. I was trying to back up my tech manual pdf
collectionfrom one external to another. I intended to delete the old copy
and deleted the new copy instead and lost 13 gigs worth. they were stored on
an external drive. and were too big for recycle. ANY HOPE?? running XP
