Thanks Robert. Yes, someone said it was actually screwed on. I  have tried 
to unscrew this one, its very tight. I might put a bit of liquid  paraffin 
on the thread, let it seep in, this usually frees up tight bolts and  nuts 
etc. 
 
The next prob is I want to add a speech processor, but the i/p  to the 
SE6861 is balanced while the o/p of the amp is single pole. So, I'm  thinking a 
transistor, with equal collector and emitter R, biased on the base to  
centre part of its gain slope, then feed each balanced leg from C and E to  the 
set, audio going in at the base of course.
 
Either that or get a better mic, hi.
