I may fall into the middle here. I like to use them and it's OK if they're not pristine. However, I want the circuit intact - no mods, no "improvements" or mystery knobs/holes in the panel.
I want to get them running to spec. OK if it's not the best RX or TX in the world; as I've said before: They weren't all Ferraris.............
I use functional replacement parts if available after a reasonable search, but won't let that keep me from getting an old baby on the air again (as long as it's not obvious w/o a deliberate search). How far is a gray area. I use a plug-n-play 1974 Motorola Desk mic w/built-in pre-amp for more audio input on my BC-375, but I won't go so far as to put those popular Hot Wheels tires on a model T just to get it rolling, hihi!
