Well, it did occur to me after posting, that if Germany imported the
National dial mechanisms thru Portugal, that period must have been
after WW2 in Europe broke out, and before the USA entered the
war. There were not a great number of these "German HRO"
receivers built.
By "Japanese versions" I count: "Ground-Air Receiver Type 0"
( Chi-Ichi ), Japanese Army. Then the ground portable "3/4th
size version" "paratroop portable". Ken Lakin owns one of these
along with the transmitter. ( One receiver was offered about 5
years ago on Epay but the amateurish seller apparently was
infatuated with a cash-now end-early offer from Japan.... )
I cannot remember the type # of this receiver. Then there
is what I call the 3/4 size and aircraft version, remote tuned
receiver, Japan Army Air Force. Ben owns this one and so
did / or does Mike Feher. To me that receiver is clearly
derived from the HRO design. -Hue
