Rather than "BC-654 on steroids" I would call the BC-654 the "child" and the
JT-350 the "adult".
The friend has 2, one nice one BUT with all controls frozen, the other a dog
for parts for the former.
He has the wood crate but no accs, no PS. I think I just found the power
cables for the thing in my
stuff. It would be interesting to have the whole set of "fold-down-front"
radios from BC-9, BC-151,
BC-148, BC-156, BC-178/179, BC-474, BC-654, BC-1209, TRC-10. Remember that
exhortation,
"BOYS! COLLECT THE WHOLE SET!" ? But I cannot set my goals as such any more,
can't conquer
the world either. I will forward emails to my friend on this. I "think" he
wants to dispose of it,
sale or maybe trade. Remember the book "Surplus Schematics Collection" with
the cutesy
Tom Kneitel captions of schematics? The one with the schematic, for one
example, of the ARC-1
reduced to one page? SO useful! The JT-350 schematic's caption says
something like,
"This would make a good rig for the Novice". Here's why: the average
teenager could not
move the set around to be able to hack into the circuitry. -Hue Miller
