Rather than "BC-654 on steroids" I would call the BC-654 the "child" and the 
JT-350 the "adult".
The friend has 2, one nice one BUT with all controls frozen, the other a dog 
for parts for the former.
He has the wood crate but no accs, no PS. I think I just found the power 
cables for the thing in my
stuff. It would be interesting to have the whole set of "fold-down-front" 
radios from BC-9, BC-151,
BC-148, BC-156, BC-178/179, BC-474, BC-654, BC-1209, TRC-10. Remember that 
exhortation,
"BOYS! COLLECT THE WHOLE SET!" ? But I cannot set my goals as such any more, 
can't conquer
the world either. I will forward emails to my friend on this. I "think" he 
wants to dispose of it,
sale or maybe trade.  Remember the book "Surplus Schematics Collection" with 
the cutesy
Tom Kneitel captions of schematics? The one with the schematic, for one 
example, of the ARC-1
reduced to one page? SO useful!  The JT-350 schematic's caption says 
something like,
"This would make a good rig for the Novice". Here's why: the average 
teenager could not
move the set around to be able to hack into the circuitry.  -Hue Miller
