Let me bounce in here since, aside from chipping paint and polishing that as
what needed to be polished (according to whatever PO was about), RADAR was
what I did in the Navy.  

All of our scopes in CIC aboard HORNET were SPA-something whether they were
A-scopes, PPI scopes, RHI scopes or anything else.  There was a scope in a
small compartment across a passageway from CIC that had a WW II scope that
had a pre-AN designation and I can't recall what it was.  (It also was an
A-scope.)
