[Milsurplus] 1942 aircraft radio installation photo

Fascinating! Possibly a file photo of one of the early 12 volt B-17s,
as it has a BC-224-A receiver and SCR-183 controls, though there are
some other possibilities. The ubiquitous 1936 Ford ashtray identifying
the aircraft as a Boeing product is at upper right. I have never seen a
similar angled mounting of the BC-213-B jack box (black knob) in a post
1941 aircraft - since it was not a control used with the frequency of,
say, the receiver tuning knob, it seems curious to say the least. The
antenna lead for the BC-224-A is in its usual fine state of dressing in
USAAC aircraft... :-) It's interesting to compare similar
installations in Navy aircraft, where evidently "shipshape" also applied
to radio cabling... BTW, I had to get to the photo from
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120608348367 - the
enlargement apparently won't open by itself.

Mike
