I've been known to use a Sharpie pen to touch up small dings and scratches on dark-colored blued, parkerized or anodized gun parts, too. While it's noticeable up close, it's still less distracting than a bright silver spot on a dark background. I hadn't thought of trying a marker touch-up on a large surface before. Thanks for the idea! I've usually been able to remove the marker ink easily with some alcohol, so it's a fairly reversible and nondestructive technique as long as the item being touched up isn't damaged by alcohol.
