Some observations made while recently rooting thru supplies:
*BC-654 with this stamp below ammeter: METER SHUNT INSTALLED / MAXIMUM CURRENT 2.2 AMPERES
*BC-654 with spinner factory made from ordinary skirt knob with short sheet metal arm and plastic knob. I guess factory
out of correct spinner knobs and did not want to slow down production line.
*BC-348R with stamp in upper left hand: MODIFIED FOR A.C. OPERATION / READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE
OPERATING. Nameplate is unmodified. PS is neatly manufactured and installed BUT cabinet has numerous 1/4 inch
cooling holes drilled on top and side in area of power supply, which looks rather crude.
*No. 19 Mark III Canadian with "cabinet with sharp corners", not radiused at all.
*Comparing BC-224/348 HF-only vs. LF+HF models: I looked at BC-224-C and noted the dial calibrations were more
frequent, for example on the 40 meter band every 20 kc/s vs. 50 kcs. On this 224-C the range 7.0 - 7.1 was covered in
4 turns of knob, vs 2.x turns for the HF+LF model. I don't think this can be accounted for only by the marginally better
bandspread; I wonder if the actual gear ratio is different???
*MBM S/N 157. If there were built at least 157 of these, why so rare?
*TBX-4a What's with this strange "-a" nomenclature? Why?
*German aircraft receiver VR-27 with "bungee cord" mounting posts. Only German radio i have seen with this type
mounting. Tuning dial also strange, labeled in a combination of letter and number. For example, you could be tuned
to "K27" . Letter changes after certain number count is reached; single band. Odd.
