I fired it up this AM. It needed a shot of De-Oxit on the function switch,
but then it made noise.
I used an inverted L for 80 as the antenna and received WWV on 10 MHz quite
well. My only unknowns so far are the labels on the Function Switch (Off
is apparent, the other 4 are not). The left most knob on the bottom left
seems to be a BFO, but it acts like a ReGen control. The small knob on the
Upper Left I think turns on the calibrator, but it's function still eludes
me.It is microphonic ... I can tap the case and get quite a "boing" in the
headphones.
I will try hooking up an external speaker to it, but I need to find a 600
ohm to VC transformer first.
Has anyone translated the markings on the 139A ? I found a site for the
139, but it is quite different.
I'll take it to the DX Club meeting next week for "Show & Tell". Should
raise a few eyebrows.
