It's an odd connector, all right. Since I got a complete set, I have the hand-crank generator and the cable that connects it to the transmitter. I later found a removed-from-equipment generator output socket on eBay (and I think I've seen more of those there from time to time), so if I ever decide to build a different power supply I'll just use that socket and the original power cable.

I've seen the handcrank generator offered by itself on eBay before, as well as by some surplus dealers (possibly Cheaper than Dirt and/or Sportsman's Guide, if I recall correctly). I don't remember whether it included the power cable or not. If it comes with the cable, then you have what you need to power the transmitter from the hand-crank generator, as well as the option of harvesting the connector(s) necessary to power the unmodified transmitter from a home-made power supply.
