Just because its ham made that's dose not equate with it being a hack job! One of my favorite radios is a "Ham" version of a BC-348-Q and I built up plates for the power supply that also include the terminal strip and think they look good. Biggest problem was the person who had it in the past hacked up the front panel, built a ugly power supply deck and similar things but after all that was removed was easy to build in the new stuff.
