All -
I put the list out as reference for anyone in the mood for inhaling
paint fumes as a summer past time sporting event.
I used VHT spray but found that over time it would get tacky, I never
bothered to "cure" it as I did not fully read the can.
So after completely stripping my modified BC-348 for the second time. I
read the DIRECTIONS twice on the can! It clearly says bake at 200 deg
for 20 minutes. I wrote the company; and they confirmed that the paint
will not be guaranteed to be "dry" unless this is done. This explains
the tacky feel I would get from time to time. The VHT wrinkled up just
fine, always had a tacky feel.
This time I used Plasti Kote over a Zinc chromate primer. Yes heat
guns do work to speed up the wrinkle process.
A word to the wise: If you use VHT have an Electric oven available or a
battery of heat lamps to cure VHT wrinkle paint. This in my experience.
Again thanks to the group for all the painting tips and tricks.
Hutch
