Yeah, you're right.  The BC-938 must have worked with the BC-456.  I never 
heard anyone mention an interim modulator/power supply between BC-456-E and 
MD-7/ARC-5 or a box a la the J-68/ARC-3 mounting only the DM-33 and relays.  
And the 12- and 18-pin connectors may have still been the pre-ARC-5 
versions.

I've never heard of a surviving 274-N VHF manual, either.  Which might make 
sense if ALL of the BC-950's had been converted to T-23's.  But they 
weren't, because I had one here not so long ago.
