Here's an interesting little factoid from "Electron", Nov. 1951:

"414 kilocycles is used as a homing beacon for jet aircraft. This 
frequency is set up on a Model TCZ transmitter and is used 
whenever the jet planes are flying. Also the TAJ in Radio II
is on 532 kilocycles, the task force common c-w frequency..."
