I suppose the SCR-610, as fragile as it was,
came from that era.  USAF had one in many
Control Towers to talk to vehicles on the ramp.
Don't know what the vehicles had.  Trivia:  One
of the best tuning tools ever made came with
that radio.  Also a very long multi-section antenna
that was stuck in the back of the radio.
