To get back briefly to the connector request that started this thread, we 
have now identified the connector used on the K-14 gunsight as "none of the 
above".  We were all wrong.  Curt faxed me a sketch of the insert and of the 
mounting flange with dimensions and emailed some photographs of the remains 
of the chassis connector.  The connector appears to be (from construction 
details) a 10-pin version of the connector family used on the SCR-522/542/624. 
 Except that neither side has any identifying marks except for the contact 
numbers.  And the contacts are in three straight rows of 3,4,3 pins.  That's 
one more connector family from WW-II that I failed to include in my list 
the other night.  However, in this case the defendent claims it wasn't 
originally a US design.  :-) 

I have one mating set of the thing that someone sent me many years ago to 
see whether I recognized it or its application.  I didn't, and it has sat on 
a shelf near my desk ever since.  I sorta think Bill Perry sent it, but if 
not, I haven't a clue.  I'll call Bill tomorrow and find out (if he's in 
town).
