Fun Nets at Dayton, and availability of "Mil Spec Radio Gear Volume 2".
The Dayton Hamvention is only a month or so away (seems to come
sooner every year). So it's time to announce the three fun nets
held every year on Saturday in the flea market. IMHOP these
activities are a highlight of the weekend -- especially the AM
Net, with WA4VAG's always-cool choice of equipment.
***AM Net***
Starting Time: 12 Noon
Frequency: 3885 kc
Mode: AM
Net Outta Control: Joe WA4VAG
Any radio capable of AM operation is fine, but older vintage
military sets are much appreciated. After the net, gather at
WA4VAG Joe's space 3415 for pictures. Joe uses a unique piece of
military AM gear every year.
***HFPack Eyeball QSO***
Starting Time: 1 PM
Frequency: 18157.5 mc
Mode: USB
Net Outta Control: Mark KI0PF
Any check-ins welcome, but pedestrian mobile (/PM) setups
are especially appreciated. I'll be running the net from
the PRC-1099 while wandering around the flea market. I
gradually make my way up to the south flea market exit so
as to end up at the "Hara Arena" awning about when the net ends.
Participants should do the same, rather than gather under
the awning and de-sense each other the whole time! Gather at
the awning AFTER the net for pix.
***Cold War Net***
Starting Time: 2 PM
Frequency: 51.0 mc
Mode: FM
Net Outta Control: John K9WT, usually on his PRC-70
Any radios capable of hitting 51.0 FM are welcome, but emphasis
has always been on U.S. or foreign mil radios from the Cold War
period spanning from the end of WWII to when the Soviet Union
broke up. Pictures at space 3415 after the net.
