The early versions of the AN/ARN-5 glide slope receiver
used a K connector, but when additional pins were needed
for expanded channels, they switched to the AN style.
Although not military equipment, RCA used K connectors
extensively for broadcast television equipment. They had
an intercom system that the connectors required probably
cost more than the little amplifiers they built.
I always had a whimsical hunch that they did so to use
up all the left over stock from WWII equipment manufacturing.
The last commercial equipment I saw that used K connectors were
for the AC line cord connector for Microwave Radio Power supplies
up until around 1980.
On the SCR-269 and AN/ARN-7, what was the history behind the
external thread "Breeze" style connectors? I'm just wondering
what the advantages of that connector were over other styles.
