If its one of those little black boxes with the connecters on the front along with five or so colored LED and a function knob its a very old MFJ packet modem that is heavily modified for use with the X mode connecter on FM radios and provide FSK base packet circuits. I wasted lots of time trying to reverse engineer the modem and ended up removing it and installing a KPC-3 modem in its place using the same case and switching systems as the original controller.

This appears to be a TNC packet controller. Anyone know about these things
Are they simple to use? Or do they require special software or equipment?
