that is a ASTRO Compass for sure I still have mine from flying L-188 
Electra for Pacific Western Airline out of Edmonton Alberta up to the 
NWT and based at Resolute NWT using them for LOP for modified GRID 
Navigation and also using the original OMEGA system using the ID-48 
cross pointer indicator with out the computer which came about later.

I also have the hand held sextant referred to as a mix master and the 
periscopic model which was used in pressurized aircraft such as DC-6, 7,8
Connie's and Boeing 707 which had a small port in the ceiling to open so 
as to stick the periscope outside to get star fixes. The open port was 
also a good smoke remover.
