That one doesn't look that banged up.
I think I read that it was for MIS use, for some mission like rescuing
downed
fliers. I don't think I'm making that up, altho I can't for the life of me
recall
where I read this.
Not for SACO China - that would be US Navy equipment - which actually
used TBW's and TBX's - and for which the Navy MBM was possibly intended -
although possibly never used. ( Mulsteu called it "the Navy's PRC-1" ).
The circuit of the AN/TRC-10 looks very similar to the AN/PRC-1, however
it looks to me that the TRC-10 is actually rarer, altho the PRC-1 being in
a suitcase = $$higher prices$$.
I think Steve Bartkowski has the nicest TRC-10 around. I have one, but
I had to replace the front panel connector with a BC-654 connector.
I suspect the TRC-10 also was not actually used. I base that on #1 no
accounts,
#2 the lateness of its development, and #3 some manufacturer's papers I
have that make it sound like all the design hadn't been fully worked out.
But, I may be wrong.

Col. Howard had one without cabinet that he had a metal shop fabricate
a replica cover for. I don't know where that one went.
I changed the 2E22 in mine to an 807 because the set only does CW
anyway, and the 2E22 hums pretty good with AC on the heater.
I also have another without a cabinet - what was so attractive about
these cabinets?? - that I should go the same route of hiring a metal
shop.
