Ok, don't all yell at me at once but here's a nutty question.
<crazyness>
I like the size and mounting arrangements of this broadband Shakespeare
antenna (which I own already) used in the VRC-12 type set up My
understanding is that it is actually a vertical dipole.
Anyone ever measure its impedence at HF? I wonder if I could front it with
an antenna tuner and go? Maybe a matching balun (or is there a balbal? Like
an unun?) to get it into a decent impedence range?
Unlike the AS-1729 that must be tuned, this one is supposed to be
broadband. Does anyone know if there are any components in the Shakespeare
that would burn up at HF or just not pass any signal?
Anyone think it's impossible to use this at HF? of course with a greatly
reduced efficiency. I believe the 4242 is rated at 100W at VHF.
