>According to Ship 242A, the MO is good for 25 watts out A2 and A3,
covering
3-8 MCs for both transmit and receive. The Marines used the MO and MO-1
and
BuAer used the MO-2. The MO-1 and -2 were only good for 15 watts out
but
appear to be otherwise the same.
-Michael, what would BuAer be doing with the MO ?? I don't get that.
What would have been the Marine use? Landing craft? I noted with
curiousity that the manual specifies the operational distance with
just one section of the antenna. Rest shot off? Hi!
I also read an update in a later 900, series manual on Navy comm
equipment maintenance that had some pointers on the MO and
stated some rules about keeping it very carefully to spec'd loading
or else some kind of voltage breakdown frequently occurred. Handy
for a combat radio, eh? -Hue Miller
