[Milsurplus] Mk119 tx on AM

Mk119 tx on Amplitude mod.
 
Moving some stuff around I found a Mk119 tx and psu that I had pushed under  
a table ages ago. 
 
After finding a faulty ht diode the psu is working, tried the tx and a good  
12W out on cw. 
 
This example has the a.m. board fitted but am having problems with it.  
Looked like someone had altered the wiring so I have returned the wiring as per  
the circuit in WFTW book.  Am finding though there is a big drain on the pa  
screen R when switched to A.M., as one would expect as the mod circuit current  
is also going through the screen R but the mod unit, just the EF72 and EL72  
tubes, seem to be pulling 35mA which seems quite a bit for the power involved. I 
 have changed all the caps in the mod though non were showing low resistance, 
 better to be sure than not, but no difference. 
 
So, just wondered if anyone else had ever played with an A.M. modded  Mk119?
 
There's not much else to check so a bit stumped now. Cannot even find  
details of EL72 on web.
