Rob,

Nice to hear about Europeans hearing us and replying with vintage equipment.

I didn't get on the OMRN net last night, we had a blizzard (we have still
about 4" on the ground after the wind blew a lot away...) and I just felt
cozier staying in the house, rather than going to the unheated shack in
arctic gear ;-)

Anyway, the RA1 amp is almost identical to the LV80 amp. If I recall, the
Belgian Army used that variant. I think the only difference is that the LV80
antenna output connector is TNC while the RA1 has either BNC or terminals
like the GRC-9 for a "doublet" I don't remember which.
I might have also heard Herman from here.
This reminds me that I haven't had the GRC-9/LV80 on since late last spring,
time to blow off the dust from it and fire it up again.

Hello,

I got a QSL card a while back from Herman PA3AWN that had a picture of him
tinkering with his military radios. I started some correspondence with him
and alerted him to OMRN on 3570kc Sunday nights.

He reported hearing some sigs from time to time.

This evening after the net, he called me with his GRC-9 and RA1 amplifier at
120W. I'm not familiar with the amplifier. I know WF2U runs one called an
LV80 with his GRC-9.

Copy was QRK 4, QSA 4 on my end. I was running Navy TCK and RBB. If not
for the QRN, it would have been solid copy.

Ted W3PWW reported hearing Herman also.

Nice QSO!
