I can't believe you people, this radio is a rare example of someone resolving 
the problems of air to air and air to ground communications before the 
development of the modern airplane, perhaps it was intended for hot air balloon 
operations? This may be a military radio developed shortly after the Boer War to 
replace those cumbersome telegraph lines from observation balloons to ground. 
Not to mention that it is a example of the development of the DC to DC solid 
state inverter, miniature multi grid tubes and PVC covered wire a full  fifty 
years before their commonly accepted development. This alone is worth the 
eighties grand! And this resolves once and for all the development of VHF AM 
operation well before the common use of long wave or HF frequencies.
