[Milsurplus] question on PRC-128

Hi all,

I just acquired this radio (high band) and had a question about its
operation. As I noted in a previous post, I do not yet have a correct
antenna for it. But I am concerned something may be wrong with it. I know
that the radio beeps if the antenna tuner position does not match the
selected channel frequency. However, when I set a channel, there is no
position (other than 50 ohms) that will cause the beeping to stop! Could
the radio be beeping because I do not have a proper antenna?

I didn't know if the radio was that smart or not. I just thought that based
on the frequency range, it would beep if the correct antenna tuner position
wasn't selected. So I am a little worried that the radio may be
malfunctioning since the beeping cannot be stopped unless I select 50 ohms.

I am, of course, hoping that the radio is smarter than me and is beeping
regardless because it knows I have not connected the proper antenna.

Anyone know for sure?

thanks
