The only thing worse than the pre-WWII USN nomenclature system is the pre-WWII
US Army system, which provides essentially no clue to the equipment's function.

I like other USN inconsistencies such as that found the ABK-series IFF set.  The
RT unit is labeled "RECEIVER" (supposedly to be deliberately misleading, just as
was done on the the BC-966-A, but not on the BC-645-A).  But the first two digits
of the individual component ID number on the name plate are 23...the code for a
receiver-transmitter.

I've got two more of those "Mxy" sets...the MAK-1 with power supply and control
box (but no cables), and a MAY.
