[Milsurplus] Ammo Can Power Supply Thank You All

Greetings Groups,
  Thanks to all who contributed to my request for ideas,comments,etc 
regarding th subject in question.Especially Pete AC7ZL and Robert 
WA5CAB.
  For my first project I will just build  a  24V DC linear supply into 
an Ammo Can to power the VRC-7.(KISS principal in force).
  I still think that with a little ingenuity these rather simple linear 
supplies can be made to output a wider voltage range.Further study 
required.BTW I tried to search the web for data sheets on the regulator 
IC's and was frustrated to the point of a good 1/2 hour with no 
results. A lot of the search results ended with no data sheet but some 
one offering a good deal on lots of 100.
  Anyone know of a good semiconductor data sheet site with no "strings" 
attached?
