I've been thinking about it off and on, but nothing concrete yet.
Presently I have the 800-1 inverter in a noise-reducing box. It's made
of 3/4 in thick plywood with the joints and seams glued and screwed, and
lined with 2 inch thick fiberglass batts. The inverter sits on plywood
on a fiberglass batt for mechanical isolation, and I have two foot long
fiberglass batt lined ducts for air in and out to reduce noise leakage
through the air holes. Since the inverter throws off significant heat
and the fiberglass is also excellent thermal insulation I have a big
exhaust fan. The happy result is noise is reduced from 95 dB (about
the same as a subway train running through the shack) to about 50 dB,
which is conversation level noise. Depending where you stand, you may
hear nothing, to a distant whine. I have it on the back porch, and it
merely adds ambiance to the shack.

FWIW, the batt material is Johns Manville 2519437, 2" x 24" x 48" About
11 batts per package - I used about half. It cuts nicely with a saber
saw, but do use a face mask.
