I also had the pleasure of meeting and listening to him tell stories at some
of the IEEE local area meetings when he was a guest.  A real character!
I have his autograph on an old Link 250FS base station manual.  When 
he autographed
it he asked, "is it still operational?  It better be, all our stuff 
was well built...." :-)

"The Texas Tower shootout" story was a hilarious.:-)
