Yesh, that's they. 6V police rigs that were run by
'tapping batteries down'

Army diverted all prod'n & a batch turned up & were captured @
Kaserine Pass

@ 1st IRE post-war some DLs came up & congratulated August Link
on the ingenious rigs - that DL high-command ignored

There's a running, but not breeding, pair here. Tube sockets are
stamped JAN 7C7, JAN 7L7, etc. That's b4 VT no.s assigned

These 9m FM sets stopped a Galvin 9m AM 2-way prelim. contract in
it's tracks. Galvin who's BC-620 freq.-locked-loop thingie
wasn't working right. Galvin just wudn't license Armstrong design.

Then comes Pearl Harbor & Armstrong turned FM licensing loose.
Story goes Sr Galvin never got over it

Reason FM chosen was because umpire's Link FM 2-ways were all that
worked @ huge mid-'41 LA field trials.

THEN Link snubbed because judged too small for huge SCR 508, etc
defense build. But they soldiered on for MPs.

Another snub guess is no shiny pushbuttons. No kidding.

BUT 2 channel &, unlike jurrassic SCR245, req'd no operator. Counted
immensly.
