Of course, Michael, you're right. I'm further postulating that the only
transmitter in the Army stable that would fit the plane, and still offer
semi-liaison work, that is, longer range than Command type radios, was
the BC-307-A. And maybe either they had BC-224-A + BC-307-A pairs
still sitting around, or someone thought that's the way a matchup should
be.
In Navy usage, there would have been most likely GP + RU, same as on
