I dunno...could it have been that it was easier to use than the
RBC? Wider bandwidth, lending it to voice net monitoring by
non radio-rated personnel? Smaller, easier to fit into non-radio
room niches? Just purely guessing, maybe using some hints
from the material I posted here about the use of the RBG/
HQ-129 ?? for aircraft net monitoring. -Hue Miller
