Ben, something looking like that, if I recall, showed up on the
pages of "Military Trader" recently, in the "What Is It" column.
I took an educated guess, but all I came up right on, was that
it was regenerative. ( Duh!). I will have a look if I still have that
copy, because one of the respondents absolutely nailed it. I
was amazed the person had that information about little-known
Interwar Period, German equipment. Other than that, if you
could find someone to post an inquiry in the publication of the
German club, "GFGF" I think it is. I think the MT respondent
is named "Leonard Hunter" and is in the Midwest USA; I
corresponded with him many years back and altho he is
a knowledgeable enthusiast, I don't think he reads any of
these groups.
Also FYI, I believe you have a small Japanese crystal calibrator
type unit with one valve. This is actually an adjunct to a Japanese
aircraft radio. I would have to guess it's to check sensitivity and
normal operation from aerial post to finish. The radio is a bit
unusual among Japanese radios in that it was actually intended
to be fully remoted and operated totally by local boxes. Also it
is crystal controlled on receive, which is unusual for an aircraft
receiver. ( Not so good for the aftermarket. ) I have this radio
and was just looking at the schematic the other day, which
reminded me. The tiny schematic is on a small piece of warped
plastic; one wonders why they even bothered. The radio is
something like Type 103 something. Perhaps I can find
something of interest to trade you for the calibrator, as I call it.
I will still have to build a facsimile control box. Like some USA
control boxes it apparently had a CW key-button at the top; I
would probably use something like the USA type GF control
box for this part. -Hue Miller
