John,
I use a series cap. Through cut-and-try found a single value that
worked 160 thru 40M but don't remember the value. More than 100pf but
I mounted it internally so will have to remove some screws and get
back to you. Been a while since i"ve used the set.

Set does not run particularly hot (as Meir also mentioned) so a
plastic coil form would probably work OK. However, I trust that you
are aware, given the recent prolonged interchange on this list. of the
moral implications of using non-original components in a classic
military rig of
this kind :^).
