Well, to be fair, the side thumbscrews appear to support the weight of 
the receiver after it is slid in.  I suspect that some slight lifting of 
the set to engage the thumbscrews would be needed for older sets, so 
tired feet would be essentially floating in air.  The tray material 
seems to be standard 16 gage, so I'd bet it's made from 304 stainless or 
something similarly tough to hold up the receiver without bending.
