Very interesting! I had the French one, hated it, and it is quite
different. The French version has three 2E22's in parallel, with
suppressor modulation for AM, and I think MCW. The design was poor in
that the suppressor voltage for AM was only -45 volts, when it should
have been about -125 volts. The result was that RF output decreased
only about 10% when going from CW to AM, when it should have gone down
about 75%. Linearity was probably bad, but it didn't sound bad. I
think they did it deliberately to meet design specs. There was also
unacceptable attenuation of received signals through the amplifier.
Other than that, it was well built.
